Content Types Definitions

Regions

Regions are geographical areas (real or imagined) that encompass Listings and Itineraries.

Itineraries

Itineraries are a list of Listings (or Stops) within a Region. An Itinerary must exist to create a Challenge.

Listings

Listings are locations such as businesses, restaurants, parks, etc. Listings can be added as Stops to an Itinerary.

Stops

Stops and Listings are terms sometimes used interchangeably in Tourismo. A Stop is a point (or stop) on an Itinerary. Stops can be a:

  1. Listing

  2. Region

  3. Custom Stop: a point on your Itinerary that has a name, subtitle, description, and/or location that isn't tied to an existing listing or region record.

Tags

Tags are used to categorize Listings. Assigning a Listing a Tag makes them searchable by that Tag. Tags are created by the author.

Platform Levels

Platform levels represent the levels you can achieve within the app. They are assigned a Threshold of points. To reach a new Platform level, you must earn the number of points assigned to the Threshold.

Challenges

Challenges consist of a number of tasks one must complete to earn a reward. An Itinerary must be created first in order to create a corresponding Challenge.

Example:

In the Beer Quest App, the "Downtown Pub Crawl" Itinerary outlines the Stops (Listings) within an Itinerary. The Challenge is where you assign a Reward and the Tasks required to complete the Challenge. For instance, the Downtown Pub Crawl Itinerary has 6 Checkinable Stops (Listings). The Downtown Pub Crawl Challenge has 6 Tasks, which involve checking in at each Stop in the Downtown Pub Crawl Itinerary to get a reward (such as points, to be redeemed later).
